I like to thumb through old notepads and scraps that I’ve saved with doodles and drawings. Sometimes, when a drawing hits in a certain way, I copy it into my drawing app (Krita) and recreate it digitally.
I don’t have a process to save or recall these doodles, but I find it meditative to thumb through them. They’re in no particular order, and many are undated. It can be amusing to revisit my state of mind from long ago. There is also satisfaction in finding an old idea and fleshing it out.
So, I present “Pen Run” inspired by an old doodle, which in turn was inspired by the memory of the old erasers that were pink rubber on one side for pencil, and harder, gritty, grey rubber on the other for erasing ink. Of course, it really just tore up the paper instead of erasing the ink. Nearly useless except in the most dire of deadlines. But for some reason, I always had one of these in my school kit when I was young.
It’s 2220 local time. I made it just under the wire to keep up my weekly posts. Who knows? Maybe I can keep finishing old doodles and make this a regular thing.
